How to Get Gold in Sandustry
Gold is Sandustry's primary progression currency — you spend it on Research to unlock every machine. The only reliable source is the Shaker: Wet Sand dropped across a diagonal Shaker falls out as Gold roughly 20-25% of the time, while the rest continues downstream as Slag.
Fastest Ways To Get Gold
- Build Shakers diagonally — Gold separates cleanly and falls through
- Keep Shakers fed with a steady Wet Sand line
- Unlock Refining 1 first so you have Shakers at all
- Burn Slag into Burnt Slag, then press it with a Kinetic Slag Press
- Scale up with conveyors and drones so you are not hauling by hand
Maximize Shaker Yield
A Shaker is only as good as its feed. Keep Wet Sand flowing at a steady rate and route the output so Gold is collected before it can pile up and jam. Diagonal placement is the single biggest yield trick — it is what separates clean Gold from a messy mix.
The 1+1=2 wetting rule matters upstream: two units of Wet Sand come from one Sand and one Water, so a dry line starves your Shakers.
Slag: Your Hidden Second Income
Slag is not waste. Burn it with a Flamethrower or Lava into Burnt Slag, then feed the Burnt Slag into a Kinetic Slag Press (Refining 2) for extra Gold. On most factories this press line is your second-largest Gold source, so route Slag into a separate belt from day one.
